Jenelle Criswell
Hi, I’m Jenelle Criswell, and I serve as the Kids Director here at One City Church. I’m so thankful that my husband and I have found a church home, and I’m honored to be in this role! Throughout the week, I lead an amazing team dedicated to creating an incredible environment for your child.
On a personal note, I’m married to my husband, Philip, and together we have one son, Philip IV. I was born in Toledo, OH, and met my husband while working at a church in Philadelphia, PA. Two years ago, we relocated to the Virginia Beach area due to the Navy.
As a new mom myself, I understand the feelings of apprehension that come with dropping your child off. I want you to know that our ministry is designed to help your child build their own relationship with Christ, while you focus on building yours. Additionally, all our volunteers are carefully vetted and background-checked. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to make Kids City a place where your child feels right at home!
When I’m not leading at One City Church, you’ll likely find me spending time with my family—whether at a local coffee shop or enjoying the park. I also love painting, working out, reading, and, of course, cheering on my team in college football; Michigan (GO BLUE!).
A Bible verse that inspires me both personally and professionally is Isaiah 59:1: “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.”
One of my favorite aspects of being at One City Church is the welcoming environment. The warmth and kindness I felt when I first attended, both for myself and my son, are what kept me coming back. There is truly a place for you here!
My hope is to create a Kids Ministry where your child not only learns about God, but also has fun while doing it. Whether you drop off a baby, a preschooler, an elementary-aged child, or a child with special needs, our ministry should feel like a place where they belong, connect with others, and establish their faith in Christ.
